Aspire HFI Welcomes Dr. Kalakota
Please join us in welcoming Aspire HFI’s newest member of the physician team - Dr. Nischelle Kalakota! Dr. Kalakota is a highly skilled physician who joins us after completing her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Rutgers Biomedical & Health Sciences.
During her fellowship, Dr. Kalakota developed a low-cost IVF program, an experience she describes as incredibly rewarding. With the generosity of the clinical director, her team was able to offer IVF services at a fraction of the cost to low income and uninsured patients in the Newark, New Jersey area.
Prior to her fellowship, Dr. Kalakota completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She also received a Master of Science in Human Physiology from the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Arts in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science with a minor in Sociocultural Anthropology from the University of Michigan.
When asked about what inspired her to pursue reproductive endocrinology, she says “ During my medical training I knew I wanted to pursue women’s health, but was particularly drawn to REI because of the complexity and innovative nature of the field. Aside from the exciting advancements, I love the ability to spread awareness on fertility preservation and help patients build families.”
Looking forward, Dr. Kalakota sees the utilization of artificial intelligence as the next frontier in fertility. She is currently exploring the tool for assessing the endometrium during frozen embryo transfers. Her scholarly work has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and she has presented her research at major conferences such as the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Scientific Congress, Society for Reproductive Investigation Annual Scientific Meeting and the Pacific Coast Reproductive Society Annual Meeting.
Outside of work, Dr. Kalakota enjoys traveling with her husband and exploring new countries - especially through food! She looks forward to bringing her strong commitment to women’s health to Aspire HFI and is dedicated to advancing reproductive medicine through advocacy and research. We’re so excited to have Dr. Kalakota on our team!
