AspireHFI Welcomes Dr. Timothy Dunn
Aspire Houston Fertility Institute is pleased to welcome Dr. Timothy Dunn to our physician team! Dr. Dunn joins Aspire HFI after completing a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at Baylor College of Medicine.
A Houston native, Dr. Dunn attended Texas A&M University and Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Dunn is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Raised by two physicians (one of whom is Aspire HFI’s Dr. Randall Dunn!), Dr. Dunn saw firsthand the difference a career in medicine could have on the lives of others. Reflecting on his journey to becoming a reproductive endocrinologist, “As I kept going through training, I knew I wanted to spend my career working with the patients we get to take care of and help in the field of REI. This field is built upon incredible science, fascinating physiology, and it also has technology that improves its chances for success. But, for me, the thing that I love the most is the chance to get to meet and try to help each patient that I see.”
As a fellow, Dr. Dunn was an active researcher, examining how FDA approved medication could be used in a novel way to treat endometriosis. However, his most proud moments as a physician are when a woman or couple feel they were well taken care of throughout their journey, wherever it is that it leads them.
Looking at the future of fertility treatment, Dr. Dunn sees the expanding world of preimplantation genetic testing and improving IVF outcomes as an amazing opportunity for continued growth of the field. Additionally, he says, “I think as we have learned more about how the embryo functions, another exciting frontier is the endometrium. I hope we learn more in the coming years about how to optimize uterine factors and the endometrial environment to enhance pregnancy rates for patients and couples.”
Outside of work Dr. Dunn is an avid sports fan and is happy to talk through the victories (or challenges!) that the Texans, Astros, or Texas A&M teams are facing in their respective seasons. He and his wife also enjoy trying new recipes at home, or exploring the many incredible restaurants Houston has to offer!
