Forbes Ranks Houston Fertility Institute Busiest Among In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Clinics in Texas

Houston Fertility Institute has been ranked as the busiest IVF clinic in Texas. This is based on Forbes’ recent ranking of the top 50 busiest IVF clinics in the U.S.
For the Forbes article, contributor Dr. David Sable studied IVF cycle data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The preliminary 2014 data is published in the recently released Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Success Rates Report, the most recent report available.
Only three IVF clinics in Texas made Forbes’ list, which ranks clinics based on total number of cycles reported. Houston Fertility Institute reported 2,721 cycles initiated in 2014, over 1,200 more than the next highest ranking Texas IVF clinic on the list. Many experts say a fertility center performing at least 120 IVF cycles annually is considered experienced in IVF.
Although these numbers show a total number of cycles reported and can help indicate the level of IVF experience you can expect to find throughout the country, you should not grade clinics based on the number of IVF cycles alone. And while the ART Success Rates Report reveals much more data, it also states you should not use data in the report for comparing clinics.
Why not?
Clinics differ in their patient selection, approaches to treatment, and cycle reporting. This makes a fair comparison difficult. For instance, some clinics only accept patients with a high probability for IVF success.
